Ulcers are a common disease in our country and they affect about one-tenth of people during their lifetime. And it affects men and women in close proportions. And it can happen in adults and children. And it often affects the stomach or duodenum.

Scientific research has shown that the cause of ulcers is the pylori germ, which lives in the stomach, and can be eliminated by using appropriate antibiotics, and thus the ulcer will disappear forever, God willing.

What is H.pylori? (Helicobacter pylori)

It is a type of bacteria that lives on the stomach lining for many years. These bacteria come from contaminated food and drink. And a person usually becomes infected during his childhood and remains with him throughout his life. It can cause an ulcer in 1 in 6 people who have it.

We thought in the past that spices, spices and extreme tension are the main causes of ulcers, but it turns out that 90% of the causes of peptic ulcers are the presence of pylori germ in the stomach.

What are the symptoms of peptic ulcers?

Chronic upper abdominal pain. The pain usually increases when the stomach is empty. The pain decreases relatively after eating and then increases gradually, especially in the early morning hours. The pain may be accompanied by vomiting, nausea and loss of appetite. One of the complications of ulcers is gastrointestinal bleeding, which can threaten a person's life. Usually, bleeding appears in the form of black stools, blood in the stool, or vomiting of a brownish substance such as coffee grounds.

How are peptic ulcers and pylori diagnosed?

If the doctor suspects the existence of a peptic ulcer due to the presence of symptoms such as those I mentioned above, then a gastroscopy should be performed, where the stomach and duodenum are examined. And if an ulcer is found, small samples are taken from the stomach wall with small forceps through the scope and cultured to detect the pylori germ, using a rapid germ test device, which gives a result in less than an hour. It should be emphasized here that the examination of the gastroscopy and duodenoscope does not exceed five minutes and is performed after giving the patient a simple intravenous anesthetic so that the patient does not remember that he did the procedure at all.

What is the treatment for pylori and ulcers?

If it turns out that you have an ulcer, you should be tested for H.pylori. And if you have it, you should be treated with a group of drugs: it includes an acid-suppressing drug and antibiotics for the germ, for a period of 10-14 days. With this treatment, more than 90% of ulcers can be eliminated forever, God willing.
