Swaddling

The baby can be placed in a large, thin blanket, and ask the nurse or doctor to explain how to do this correctly. [1] Swaddling is a trick to calm the baby, and its purpose is to simulate the narrow boundaries of the uterus that surround the child for 24 hours a day throughout pregnancy. Babies control the movement of their limbs smoothly, and their movements are irregular, and this is what makes them cry, and although many children may resist swaddling in the first few moments, it calms down after a short time. [2]

Massage

Massage can calm the child, as many children love skin-to-skin contact, as some studies show that massage can reduce babies' crying, and make them sleep better, and this is done by taking off the child's clothes and massaging him with slow and steady movements on the legs and arms. And the back, chest, and face, and make sure to consult a pediatrician before using any kind of oils or lotions to massage the child, [3] and the child can be carried and placed on his left side, to help him in the digestion process, and gently rub the back. [1]

Diet change

There are some foods that may cause an allergic reaction to the child , and cause him to feel uncomfortable, so the mother's diet can be changed, to find out why the child does not feel comfortable, such as reducing milk products and caffeine, and if there is no difference after the changes made, you can return to The usual diet, and be careful to avoid foods that are spicy or gas-causing, such as: onions and cabbage. [1]

Find out why the baby is crying

There are many reasons that make the child cry, including hunger, so the child should be fed, check his temperature, wear appropriate clothes for the air temperature, check the baby’s diapers if they are dirty or clean, and make sure whether the child is sick or injured. With a fever, if the child is younger than 2 months old and has a fever, you should contact the doctor immediately. [1]
