Cleaning gold with ammonia

Gold can be cleaned by bringing an empty container, a clean piece of cloth, an amount of ammonia and a quantity of water. Where a cup of ammonia is mixed with six cups of water in an empty container, and a piece of gold is placed in the mixture for sixty seconds, and then the piece is taken out and washed well with water, and dried gently using a piece of cloth [1] .


Cleaning gold using vinegar

White vinegar is used to clean gold. It is easy to use and has great results. Where the piece of gold is placed in a bowl of white vinegar, and left for a period ranging between ten minutes and a quarter of an hour at most, and then taken out and rubbed gently with a toothbrush with soft bristles if there is a need for that or if any dirt remains on it. Clean the gold with warm water and liquid soap

The piece of gold is placed in warm water containing a small amount of known liquid soap, and a toothbrush is used to clean the piece, and then it is rinsed with clean water and dried well with a piece of cloth. [3]


Tips to keep gold clean

  • Avoid using unknown soaps when cleaning gold, whose components are unknown , and all jewelry and gold coins must be removed before showering. [4]
  • Never put chlorine on gold pieces, especially in high temperatures, or in hot water. As this leads to staining the gold piece, or even its destruction, and for this reason, care must be taken to take off the gold pieces when cleaning with bleach. [4]
