Yemeni agate is a type of quartz, and is chemically composed of silicon oxide called carnelian, and it is considered one of the most important types of gem stones whose name is associated with Yemen, as it has been famous for it since ancient times, as it is one of the important wealth in the country, and Yemeni agate is considered one of the popular products at the level. The world, due to its high technical and aesthetic characteristics, in terms of its colors, sizes, and graphics, in addition to being a gemstone that is distinguished by its high hardness and not subject to scratching.

- Red Pomegranate: This type is considered one of the most valuable types of onyx. Because it is of great importance in the Arab Gulf region, Iraq, and Iran, where they consider it a stone that gives blessing and prevents envy, and this type of stone is distinguished by its gray color similar to the color of sapphire.
- Flowering agate: This stone is also known as pictorial agate, due to the presence of deposits, pictures, names, and drawings inside it, and this stone comes second after the red pomegranate in terms of price and importance.
- Bloodstone: It was named by this name due to the belief that it was useful in holding blood, and this stone is characterized by its opacity.
- Onyx stone: This stone is the first stone that was discovered in Yemen, and is distinguished by its lines and transparency, and it is available in white and black colors.
- Sun stone: It was named by this name due to the luster it possesses, which made it shiny like the sun, and it is also characterized by its ability to retain heat, so if it is exposed to the sun’s rays during the day, it remains preserved throughout the night, and this stone is characterized by that it is transparent and tends to white, as well as It is round.
- Prisoner's stone: This stone is characterized by its white color, curly and small shape, and its bright luster, and this stone is used mainly in the manufacture of jewelry.
- Tiger stone: This stone consists of three colors: black, white, and gray, and is distinguished by its dark color.
- Turquoise stone: This stone consists of four colors: gray, green, blue, and white, and is characterized by being transparent, and it is believed that it is one of the stones that brings happiness to the heart of its holder.
- Devil's nail stone: This stone is distinguished by its gray color, curly shape, and surface full of star-like veins.

The Yemeni onyx stone is extracted from the tops of the mountains and valleys, as it may be close to the surface, or under the ground, and it is also extracted from different types of rocks that may be solid, or sandy rocks of little rigidity, and there are Yemeni onyx stone in multiple places in Yemen, and among the most famous of these places: Anas and Anas in Dhamar Governorate, and Khawlan in Sana'a Governorate, and it is also found in other areas of Yemen, but in small quantities and with lesser quality.
