Introduction
People, especially children, often have nosebleeds while playing, and despite the seriousness of this condition, parents feel fear when they see bleeding, so it is preferable to be patient and calm in this case, and to treat the child in the right way. With regard to nosebleeds, the head should not be turned back, because this will increase blood flow to the throat and lead to vomiting. The dryness of blood vessels in the nose, in turn, is one of the most important causes of bleeding, in addition to the person being hit by direct strikes on the nose, and among other reasons for bleeding from the nose:
- Having an allergy makes it easier to rupture the mucous membranes of the nose, which facilitates bleeding.
- The blood vessels in the nose, when they are very thin, facilitate rupture and bleeding.
- Infection or allergies that attack the mucous membrane lining the nose.
- Sitting with the air conditioner causing dryness in the nose, and thus bleeding is more likely.
Nosebleeds
If bleeding episodes occur continuously, you should see a doctor to search for the causes. Often the bleeding is without causes and is not a dangerous condition. The elderly are among the most vulnerable to nosebleeds, due to their chronic diseases such as: high blood pressure, kidney disease, or having problems with blood clotting.
Methods of treating bleeding or bleeding from the nose
- When a person has bleeding, he is advised to sit upright, then bend forward and press gently on his nose just below the bone, as the bleeding often stops after that.
- Applying cold water or ice compresses to the neck of the bleeding person works to constrict the blood vessels, thus stopping the bleeding.
- Repeat the operation if bleeding continues after that.
- If the bleeding from the nose stops, it is recommended to use a saline solution, and to inhale into the nose or instill the nose.
- It is advised to see a doctor if the bleeding continues for more than ten minutes.
- It is recommended to apply a piece of gauze with Vaseline and put it inside the nose, and this helps a lot in stopping the bleeding.
- If the bleeding continues, the doctor may cauterize the capillaries in the nose.
To prevent blood or nosebleeds
- It is recommended to constantly moisturize the nose, by using olive oil or medicinal Vaseline.
- Drink enough fluids.
- Permanently moisturizing and softening the atmosphere of the home, through the use of moist air conditioners.
- Gently clean the nose and not use sharp materials.
- Ongoing treatment of chronic allergic rhinitis.
