Walking beginning tips for children

Some important tips can be followed when children start the toddler stage, including: [3]

  • Not to worry if children are late in walking, or standing like a pigeon, as some children were born this way, and they usually correct this during the first years of their lives.
  • Make all places in the home safer for children, by sitting and looking at the house from the children's level of view.
  • Not using a walker with wheels, and make sure of this in the nursery.
  • Teaching children how to climb up and descend stairs under supervision, then put safety gates with locks at the top and bottom of the stairs to make sure that the stairs will be out of children's reach.
  • Not to keep children in a stroller or kindergarten for a long time, as they must be given sufficient time to practice walking daily.
  • Allow children to walk beside their stroller, as part of their daily walking time with parents.
