Memories are stored in the brain in several interconnected regions, depending on the type of memory that is created and preserved, as explicit or specific memories that result from exposure to a specific event, along with general information and facts, are preserved in three locations in the brain, which are the cerebral cortex , the amygdala . The amygdala and the hippocampus, while implicit memories of movement are preserved in the cerebellum and basal ganglia, while memories in short-term memory are stored in the prefrontal cortex of the brain.
